About - Craps
Craps is a game using dice that allows players to bet on the outcome of a roll or a couple of rolls with two dice. Each player can place a bet against the bank in a casino, and since there is so little to the game many people play street craps at home. When playing against a bank at a casino, there can be as few as one player or as many as the table will hold. Casinos cover all the bets at a table, and also set odds on the payoff. Players will take turns rolling two dice and this player is called a shooter. All other players on the table bet on the shooter’s rolls. The game is done in rounds with the first roll of a new round called a come out roll. The round is over when a seven is rolled on the dice.
A player that wants to be the shooter has to bet the table minimum on the pass or don’t pass lines, which are also called the win or don’t win lines. The right to roll is rotated around the table clockwise, and when it is a player’s turn to roll he or she can refuse but still bet on the shooter’s roll. The dice is then passed on to the next player in line to be shooter. The shooter is given many dice and must choose only two to use, while the remaining dice are given back to the dealer at the table to hold. The shooter makes his or her come out roll, and aims to get a point. IF the roll is a 2, a 3 or a 12, this is called craps, and the round is over and all players lose pass line bets. If the roll is a 7 or 11, it is called naturals, and causes all bets on the pass line to win, which creates a point. All come out rolls continue for one shooter until a point is made. If the point results in numbers 4-6 or 8-10, this number is the point and the roll is done. Dealers will turn on a button that says ON, and this points the number out to all the players at the table to see. The shooter can then continue rolling for the point number or a 7. If he or she rolls the point number, all pass line bets win. If the shooter rolls a 7 all pass line bets lose. This would end the round with the dice now being passed on to the next shooter in line on the table.
A player that wants to play without being shooter can look to see if the dealer has hit the ON button on any number. If the point number is off, the table is in the come out time of a roll, so if the button is on the table is in point round so many casinos will let a person to place a bet. It is always best to check with the dealer as to your casino’s rules on play.
