Casino Criminals Caught

Two notorious casino fraudsters were finally caught and convicted of swindling thousands from gambling houses around the world. Francesco Baioni, aged 64 and Frank Camilleri, aged 61, were convicted on several accounts of gaming fraud. 

The pair admitted that they used fake ID documents with intent, Camilleri was charged with eight counts of casino fraud and received a nine-month suspended sentence. Baioni admitted to nine counts of fraud and was given a 12-month suspended sentence. Both were also put on a nighttime curfew between the hours of 11m and 6am, for 18-months and also prevented from entering any premises licensed by the Gambling Commission. 

The Metropolitan Police Service’s, Human Exploitation and Organised Crime Unit eventually caught up with the pair of fraudsters. Casino CCTV footage showed them visiting a number of London casinos where, using fake Ids, they tried to register for membership. Police were alerted and subsequently raided their homes, where they found false ID paperwork with the men’s photos under different names. 

The police would not disclose exactly how the pair had operated, but confirmed that they were professional criminals who had been travelling around the world swindling casinos in America, China and Australia. They said that Camilleri and Baioni were part of a criminal gang and had been working casinos for several years. Investigations into their activities are still continuing.
