The GUKIPT Grand Final, held in London’s Victoria Casino, brought a very successful Grosvenor UK Poker Tour to a conclusion. Most of Europe’s top players were headed to Barcelona for the EPT but there were still 207 players who showed up for the London finale.

The 2,500 buy-in event had a good turn out, despite the Mediterranean competition and the eventual winner, Vietnamese poker pro, Leon Bui, had to win through a very strong final table to take the trophy.

On his way to taking the £144,905 prize money he went heads up against Nicholas Irving. Bui had a 2-1-chip advantage going into the final leg, but Irving wasn’t giving up easy. After some tentative play by Irving, the final hand came when he went in with J-9 against Bui who held a pair of two’s. Bui’s hand turn out the stronger and with it he took the championship. However, Irving still came away £98,325 better off.

As the GUKIPT came to a close, it also drew a veil over the top ranked player competition, which despite sterling efforts from Alli Mallu and Neil Channing, David Johnson won. Earlier in the month he took the title at the Blackpool meeting, where he collected winnings of £20,000.

The final table in London finished, Leon Bui (£144,905), Nicholas Irving (£98,325), “Hitsquad” star, Chaz Chattha (£63,395), Ash Miah (£37,520), Song Lee (£28,460), Martin Green (£23,290), Paul Altman (£18,110), Andreas Afeldt (£14,230), Christopher Brammer (£10,350) and James Sudworth (£9,055).
