Isildur 1 Sponsorship Rumours

“Isildur1”, the famous mystery online poker player, is never far from the rumour mill since his first appearance on the scene a year ago. For six months he kept online poker players enthralled with his high stakes, high risk, nosebleed poker. Although rumours still persist as to his true identity, the safe bets are still going with Viktor Blom.

According to Swedish newspaper Expressen, an as yet un-named 20 year old who is currently said to be the best head-to-head online player, is being linked with a well known online poker site and a sponsorship deal. Although the paper does not say whom the deal is with, Isildur1’s famous ninja logo appears in the article.

At present the bets are between Full Tilt Poker, where he made his name in epic online poker battles against the likes of Ziigmund, Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius and Phil Ivey. The matches that ensued featured million dollar swings, collaboration scandals and massive losses. PokerStars is the other likely site with an interest in the masked Swede, and as yet there has been no comment from either camp as to whether there is any truth in the suggestions.

Many commentators have likened Viktor Blom’s live style of aggressive, up-front poker with that of the online phenomenon and poker blogger, Sohello “BankTheMan” Shah, who in a reported coup last year scored an interview with Isildur1, and seems to have a good handle on the topic. Perhaps the mystery man will soon be revealed, finally putting speculation to an end.
