Gambling giant Ladbrokes have announced their intention to introduce anonymous play to their online poker games.

Members of Ladbrokes online poker will be offered the unique opportunity to conceal their real identity when playing on the virtual felt. The system will allow players to select a secret mode where they can hide who they are and use anonymous avatars and alternative aliases that only they can see.

The advantage gives players whose poker strategy has become too predictable and don’t want others to second guess their play or have previous games influence opponent’s reactions. Players occasionally come up against an opponent who really riles them and knows how to push their buttons, this will mean that members do not have to face a situation where this can be used to win a big pot or to provoke a response at a crucial play.

Poker players could also find that this feature actually saves them money, as they are free to play their own game without interference or provocation from the rest of the table. Any tags, notes or play history made by other players will not be visible in the anonymous mode. Every time you play you are a completely new individual without a past playing record or followers.

Ladbrokes monitoring team will obviously have knowledge of your identity for security reasons and are able to track in real time your earnings and play history. The system is simple to use, in the lobby area you just select tables with an “A” next to them to play anonymously.
