Kent Lundmark has won the Spanish leg of the European Poker Tour (EPT) held this week in the Casino Barcelona. Along with the title he also took home a massive €825,000 in winnings. In the final heads up he faced favourite and local boy, Jesus Cortes Lizano, having won through a field of 757 competition hopefuls.

This was to be the day the Swedish poker pro won his first major and it proved to be a considerable payday as well. The 22 year old had cashed in before, most notably at the EPT London in 2009 and the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in January. He has continued to steadily enhance his reputation by coming second in the Nordic Masters in March, but this was far and away his best finish to date.

Following the departure of Konstantin Puchkov in third place, the face-off was a pretty even match to start with, the chip count favouring neither player. However, after two hours play the Lundmark had established himself and the final hand saw his AQ come good against Lizano’s KJ.

The victory will see Lundmark take his place at the EPT Grand Final next year and we will see how he fairs against the other EPT winners throughout the year.

The final line up in Barcelona was Kent Lundmark (€850,000), Jesus Cortes Lizano (€525,000), Konstantin Puchkov (€300,000), Shander de Vires (€222,000), Giuseppe Pantaleo (€170,000), Thor Stang (€130,000), Georgios Skotardis (€90,000) and Francesco Notaro (€70,000).
