Peter Eastgate To Sell WSOP Bracelet
Peter Eastgate, the 2008 winner of the World Series of Poker Main Event, has decided to sell his coveted bracelet at the online auction site eBay. When Eastgate came from nowhere to take the tournament (and title) by storm, he became the youngest ever person to win the event. Joe Cada surpassed this amazing feat the following year.
There is now a chance for one lucky person to own this record-breaking item of jewellery, along with the accompanying watches. The weighty Corum bracelet contains 291 diamonds, is made from 18kt white gold, has a starting price tag of £9,980 and has already attracted plenty of interest.
This is a unique opportunity for poker fans to gamble on owning a piece of poker playing history, when Eastgate won a massive £5.69 million and bagged the title. When asked about his decision to sell the prestigious award, he said: “Of course, I am extremely proud of my title to this day but the bracelet itself, I am never wearing since I really don’t wear any jewellery. So I thought about giving away the bracelet and watches. A lot more people will hopefully be able to benefit from the items.”
It is Peter’s intention to use the money made from the sale of his poker award to help the charity UNICEF in its work. Eastgate, now 24 years-old, decided to retire from playing live poker tournaments earlier in the year to focus more on his personal life. He claims it was never his intention to become a professional poker player, but winning the WSOP Main event has made him financially independent and allowed him to weigh up his options.
