Rideout Takes From Dusk till Dawn
Wayne “Gliterbabe” Rideout has gotten the 2011 Sky Poker Tour (SPT) off to a smashing start winning the first event of the year, the Dusk till Dawn in Newcastle. Rideout, one of the Sky Poker Team pros, beat 22-year-old Jamie Louise “Jamie Lou” Barrett and 170 other poker players to take the title and claim the £4,500 first prize.
The event makes poker news as along with Jamie Lou, the final table at the Aspers Casino in Newcastle unusually featured three women who made it through to the final stages. Both Rideout and Barrett, along with third placed Keith Ridley will also get seats at the Grand Final in September for the SPT, Dusk till Dawn match in Nottingham.
Of those players who made it through to the final table Gary Metcalfe was the first to leave, taking home £450 with him, David Hailes who claimed £600 then followed him. The first of the women players to hit the rails was Rachel Costa getting £750, with John Hicks getting sixth position and a £1000. Lesley Devine in fifth place was the other female poker player at the final table and picked up £1200, along with Gary Roberts who got £1500 for coming in fourth.
The next leg of the SPT is at the G Casino in Luton on the 12th March with online poker satellite matches in the lead up to the event.
