Never one to miss the opportunity to court controversy and always ready to put any opposition to the sword with his verbal duelling, Tony G has decided that the object of his derision this month should be the French nation. In advance of the World Poker Tour (WPT) Paris event to be held at the famous Aviation Club, which starts with the European Poker Awards Tony G made his feelings known about the host country.

Just not being able to let it be Tony observed on his blog that although he was not even one of the best poker players in the world and may be a one man donkey squad he couldn’t wait to get his jaws into “those French fishies.”

Tony said that in poker terms the French were up alongside the Russians in the race for the title “country with the world’s worst poker players.” Adding “Think about it, which French players have had a Napoleonic influence on the world poker circuit online or offline.”

The outburst seems to have come by way of a promotion for a special event he his organising during the WPT event – France vs Tony G. The winner will receive the buy-in to the $10,000 High Roller event to be held during the tournament. Representing France will be Bruno Fitoussi and Guillaume Darcourt.

He ended by saying that he would bring his bike, wear a stripy jersey and event put a string of onions around his neck if it gave his opponents a better chance. Tony is definitely worth his nomination in the Rob Gardner Memorial Award for Poker Personality of 2010.
