Who are the November Nine?

This Saturday see’s the World Series of Poker Main Event final table taking place at the Rio Las Vegas Hotel and Casino where the final nine contestants, in what is Poker’s biggest tournament, will compete for the $8.9 million first place prize.

So who are the ‘November Nine’ and how will they fare?

Jonathan Duhamel:

Jonathan Duhamel, a Canadian native started playing poker when he was in college. He has had a few live tournament cashes to date but this year he took part in the WSOP for the first time, making it to the final table and through to the November Nine. He is currently considered to be the favourite to take the title.

John Dolan:

Born and raised in Florida, Dolan dropped out of college to pursue a career in poker. He took part in the WSOP last year coming in 233rd. This year he surpassed himself, making it to 6th place on the final table and into the November Nine.

Michael Mizrachi:

Mizrachi, otherwise known as “The Grinder”, is another player to dropped out of college to play poker full time. At this years WSOP he bagged 1st place in Event #2 winning $1,559.046.

John Racener:

John Racener, from Florida, has won over $1 million over the course of his career playing tournament poker. Racener, also known as “Spikey” placed 21stposition at this years WSOP before making it through to the final table.

Filippo Candio:

Candio, from Cagliari, is the first Italian to make it to the final table in the WSOP main event.

Joseph Cheong:

Born in South Korea, Cheong immigrated to the USA with his family when he was six years old. He has total winnings of $218,907 to date.

Matt Jarvis:

Another native of Canada, to date Jarvis has had 14 cashes and total winnings of $237,614.

Soi Nguyen:

Born in Vietnam, Soi moved to the USA with his family as a young child. Soi is an amateur poker player who persuaded his boss to give him the time off to attend the WSOP in June.
