PokerStars have just published their figures for the biggest earners of 2010 and this year women dominate more than they have previously. The figures show that women poker players are more than able to hold their own at the green felt and keep their nerve in order to take the top prizes.

The list shows that in the earnings stakes for 2010, female poker pros came in first, second, and ninth positions, with several other notable players making the top 40 list. Topping the 2010 earnings list by a farmers mile is Vanessa Selbst who made $2,865,930 (£1,860,428), she was followed by British sensation Liv Boree who won a massive $1,825, 425 (£1,185,379). Ninth slot found the perennial player Venessa Rousso making $616,514 (£400,363) over the year.

Even the professional males where surprised with Daniel Negreanu commenting on his blog “Another thing I found surprising is how badly the PokerStars boys were outplayed by the women!” Negreanu then pointed out that three ladies in the top ten was pretty impressive considering that women only make up about 5% of the poker playing population at tournaments.

Venessa Seblst now finds herself in third position in the women’s all time top earners behind Kathy Liebert $5,722,371 and Annie Duke $4,270,549. Negreanu observes that it will be an interesting 2011 and wonders which of these “ladies can outdo the other.” One thing is for sure though, you should look at their cards before you check out their outfits.
