World Cup of Poker Returns

Leading poker website, PokerStars, have announced that their seventh World Cup of Poker preliminary rounds are due to start this weekend, 27th November. Poker players from 56 countries around the world are invited to enter the preliminary rounds for the chance to represent their country and qualify for the grand final, to be held as part of the PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in the Bahamas, next January. 

Countries will be competing for national honour and a chance to win part of the $290,000 prize pool. The top seven qualifying teams will be invited to join the party at the Caribbean Adventure on 30th January and try to take away the $100,000 first prize. 

Each national team will comprise of four poker players, from their home country, who each play in one of seven qualifying divisions. The winning team from each division will then head off to the Bahamas in the New Year for the finals. Members of the qualifying teams will all receive a package that includes travel and accommodation at the Bahamas luxurious Atlantis Resort and Casino. 

The first match will be a single table tournament to decide the teams starting chips for the grand final and during the final event team members will be rotated in a tag format until one country claims victory.
