WSOPE Bracelet Winner at Event Three
Poker fans at the WSOPE currently being held at the Empire Casino in London’s Leicester Square saw Scott Shelley, a 24-year-old take the third event. The customer support advisor with poker website PKR managed to come through the field of 583 poker players to take the match. Shelley’s success makes him £130,000 richer and earns him a much-coveted WSOP bracelet as well.
Shelley went face to face with defending champion JP Kelly to deny him the chance of making poker history by becoming the first player ever to retain his title as well as the first person to win two WSOPE bracelets, and the youngest person ever to hold three bracelets. Phil Ivey managed this feat when he was 26, so Kelly now 24 with two bracelets to his name is still in with a chance.
Shelley won his place at the £1,000 buy-in event by winning a PKR organised, £100 staff satellite match last week. When asked about his feelings at winning a bracelet he said, “Words cannot describe how I am feeling, I’m excited. The money will be life changing for me, that’s for sure.”
Shelly’s boss at PKR congratulated him saying, “We’re absolutely delighted for Scott.” Adding that he was a genuinely nice guy and hugely popular at work.
The other finishers at the third event were, in order, Jeppe Bisgaard, Paul Pitchford, Kaveh Payman, Mehdi Senhaji, Jack Lyman, Karim Jomeen and Nicky Katz.
