Blackpool V Man Utd

Unlikely Premiership heroes Blackpool must be kicking themselves after letting a 2 – 0 halftime lead slip to lose 2 – 3 at the final whistle. With fifteen minutes gone, the seaside crew put themselves in front with a goal from former Manchester United player Craig Cathcart found the net.

They then doubled the lead right on half time as DJ Campbell headed home a poor clearance from Adam. Sports bookmakers were going mad during the interval and were offering gamblers 7/2 odds on a draw and 11/2 on United scoring three goals in the second half.

Alex Ferguson didn’t panic during the interval, they maintained a lot of possession but even a formation change hadn’t brought the results. It wasn’t until the 73rd minute that the tide started to turn when a reverse pass from Nani set Fletcher free and he in turn got the ball through to Dimitar Berbatov to score a point blank goal.

Two minutes later and United had the match back on an even keel when Ryan Giggs put Hernandez in for the second goal. Blackpool were now having to grimly fight to hold on to a draw but in the 88 minute Berbatov latched onto a ball from Paul Scholes and blasted an unstoppable shot passed the stranded Kingston.

Manager, Ian Holloway desperately tried to rally his troops from the side line and even with ten minutes extra time added for an injury to Rafael, Blackpool were unable to rescue what had looked like being a great upset at half time.
