The organisers for the British National Lottery, Camelot have warned people who buy their lottery tickets from outside of the United Kingdom that they will automatically void any winners who do not comply. The company said that it will not pay any winners who are not in Britain when they bought their ticket over the internet to bet on the lottery.

Camelot added that as of the 31st December 2010 winners will only be paid if they purchased the ticket in the UK. They say that there has been a serious rise in the number of people who are betting on the lottery that are getting their tickets over the internet, from abroad. Even though there are sufficient pop-ups warning them that their it is illegal to buy tickets from their country, people continue anyway.

The are lots of people who are constantly ignoring Camelot’s advice that purchasing the lottery tickets is deemed to be breaking their own country’s gambling laws. The decision has therefore been taken to impose a blanket ban on anyone outside of Britain from using the National Lottery.

A spokesperson for Camelot said “the change will make it absolutely clear to play they must be in the UK.” They stated that the organisation does not promote the National Lottery outside of the country as that would be illegal and that there are ample warnings on the website to this effect.
