England Win Down Under

The best odds bookmakers would have given sports betting fans today would have been how long it would take England to seal a victory as the result look pretty much assured. Odds of an Aussie victory stood at 13/18 and even a draw coming in at 9/2 and looking unlikely, as it required the whole day to be rained off.

It was only a matter of time but England finished off Australia and in the end took 17 overs on the final day of the Ashes Test. The visitors had to remain patient as light showers briefly held up play and many fans back home know they were more likely to wake up to the result than catch it live.

After some resistance by the tail enders Peter Siddle and Steve Smith put on a 50 partnership in only 88 shots Strauss’s men made the breakthrough. Siddle was the first to go when Graeme Swann force him to play into Andersons hands.

Ben Hilfenhaus was next to walk back when he edged Anderson to Matt Prior behind. Tremlett then finished the affair off by clean bowling Beer to take the match. By now the ground half full of England fans went crazy as they celebrated a history making result.

The turn around in the test was made all the more special as England had been whitewashed by Australia in their previous encounter. It was a case as much of England vastly improving, as it was of Australia not performing.
