Fulham Move Away From Danger

Fulhams 3-0 victory at Craven Cottage on Tuesday night against West Brom saw them out of danger and climbing to 13th position. The result sees the Baggies however, drop to 16th place and within 2 points of the drop zone.

Bookmakers kept faith with the home side offering them 5/6 odds on winning and they duly obliged. Optimistic gamblers could have got good odds on the score line though with Fulham more often than not scoring under 2.5 goals. A 3-0 win for the Cottagers gave those putting money on at 13/10 odds a decent return.

Simon Davies started the scoring just on half time with a long-range shot that squeezed in through Scott Carzon’s hands. Fulham have not had a home win in their last five encounters at Craven Cottage so putting that hoodoo behind them will be a great relief.

Fulham had much of the play during the first half but West Brom still looked dangerous on the break. It didn’t take long though for the Cottagers to extend their lead and ten minutes into the second half when Dempsey headed Davies’s corner in past Carzon again. The third came twenty minutes into the second half and was almost a carbon copy of the previous goal. Davies sent in a long cross from the corner and found Hangeland who put the ball beyond the hapless Carzon’s reach.

The Premier League is still very tight and although Fulham will be glad of the points, even ninth placed Liverpool are only five points from the relegation zone. This season teams are going to have to make every match count.
