Games underway in Delhi
In spite of the pessimistic betting predictions about the 2010 Commonwealth Games not going ahead, and 4/1 odds of its cancellation, they are firmly underway in Delhi. Hopefully all the talk of gambling fixing and doping scandals can be put behind now and sports betting fans can concentrate on the events themselves.
The Commonwealth Games gives a chance for placing a bet on some of the more obscure sports that normally do not get gamblers attentions. There are a few bookmakers that are offering bets and one of the more popular sports that has seen an increase in betting interest has been the hockey.
The Australians are considered to be the games overwhelming favourites at present being given odds of 1/6 of landing the Gold medal at the Delhi games and England are being quoted at 5/2. You can also find renowned hockey nations Pakistan at 7/6 and India given odds of 8/4, while the New Zealanders are 8/0 of winning the medal.
The Scots are outsiders at 20/0 and along with South Africa 14/0 and Malaysia at 12/5.
Weightlifting is another of those occasional sports that during major competitions attracts increased betting interest. A category that has caught people’s attention is Weightlifting. In the 63Kg Weightlifting group the current form favours the 20-year-old Cypriot, Dimitris Minasidis who is the bookies odds on favourites at 1/32. You can also get exchange wager odds of 1/32 on Naharudin Mahayudin and Aricco Jumitih.
