The odds of Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson being given the red card increased to 4/1 after their 2-1 home defeat to Premier new boys, Blackpool.

With Liverpool languishing down the bottom of the Premier League table the pressure was already on Hodgson before this weekends result but goals from Charlie Adam and Luke Varney left the “Reds” facing an uphill struggle. Although Sotirios Kyrgiakos reduced the deficit they are still left in 18th position, this has been the worst start to a season ever for Liverpool.

Hodgson will have a two-week break with next week’s international fixtures but with his next encounter, a derby with Everton, the result must have more than just three points on the table. There is already talk of replacements and leading the charge is Martin O’Neil at 5/2 to be the next Liverpool manager. Kenny Dalglish is being offered at odds of 10/1 to get another chance and the team are being given 20/1 chance of relegation this season.

Popular football betting bookmaker Bet365 have reduced these odds even further giving the “Reds” 16/1 to face the drop. They said there were speculative bets pre-season that Liverpool would be in for a torrid time and they initially offered 200//1 on relegation and this has been steadily updated as the weeks have progressed. You can currently get 10/3 on that they will end up in the lower half of the table come the season’s end.
