Liverpool’s Odds Improve

Liverpool has seen sports bets odds lengthened on relegation after The Reds recorded their third successive Premier League win on the bounce. The result sees Liverpool climb the table to sixth place, only five points behind a struggling Arsenal, who having thrashed Newcastle away only a couple of days ago in the Carling Cup, lost at home to the Magpies.

The Merseyside team’s 2-0 victory over league leaders Chelsea has helped their cause no end, which sees bookmakers slashing their odds to 50/1 now to drop out of top flight football. Roy Hodgeson has also received the seal of approval, with gamblers looking at 7/1 odds now that the manager will get the sack before the season is out.

After a torrid start to the 2010 season Liverpool have produced excellent results in both the Premier League and away at Napoli in the Europa League to instil a new confidence in the team. The teams now under pressure and facing the drop are Blackpool 8/11 favourites and Wigan at 4/5, closely followed by a struggling Wolves and West Ham with 10/11 on relegation.

While Roy Hodgeson’s chances of keeping his job have improved, others have not faired so well. The likes of West Ham’s Avram Grant at 15/8 and Manchester City’s Roberto Mancini with 2/1 odds are candidates under pressure this week, while Roberto Martinez of Wigan is now 9/2 to be sacked.
