Martin O’Neill is Bookmakers Favourite to Take Over At Liverpool
Bookmakers are making Martin O’Neill the favourite to succeed Roy Hodgeson at beleaguered Liverpool FC. The former Aston Villa manager has been given the football betting seal of approval in the continuing saga at the Merseyside club.
Hodgeson faces being sacked after Liverpool had their worst start to a season in the clubs long history and are now languishing dangerously in the relegation zone. Speculation and offers over the clubs ownership have also not helped the situation either as they try to resolve problems both on and off the pitch.
The Reds next match for Hodgeson is a must win affair against the old enemy Everton on Sunday and a poor result here could see the manager looking for a new job come next week.
Those wishing to put a bet on Hodgeson’s successor are being offered 7/4 odds on Martin O’Neill, while a return of Kenny Dalglish to Anfield has odds of 5/1. Others being quoted in the frame are Guus Hiddink at 7/1, Didier Duchamps 8/1 and Manuel Pelligrini offered at 10/1. Anyone fancying an outside gamble could put money on Sven Goran Eriksson 28/1, Graeme Souness at 40/1 or with a real wild card Phil Thomson 50/1.
For the optimistic football betting punters you can get a 4/5 bet that Hodgeson is still in control of Liverpool at the end of the season and 10/11 that he will not be.
