New Manager Same Result

Kenny Dalglish

Despite their changing managers Liverpool’s players still seem incapable of producing the results on the pitch. Bookmakers were offering odds on a draw or favourable result for The Reds now they had King Kenny back in charge but changing managers doesn’t always change the team. This is not the same set of players Dalglish had when he was last in charge 12 years ago and Blackpool had already taken three points away at Anfield.

So Liverpool’s woes continued as they lost again for the seventh time on the road, this time Blackpool managed a 2-1 victory. Fernando Torres got the visitors off to a good start when he found the net three minutes in to the game but 9 minutes later the dream ended when Graham Taylor-Fletcher levelled the scores. DJ Campbell sealed another torturous trip for Liverpool 20 minutes from time when he headed home the winner, sending the Blackpool fans into raptures.

The reward gave Blackpool a top ten position and put pay to those doubting Thomases that had them pencilled in for immediate relegation back to the Championship. Liverpool on the other hand slide a place down to 13th leaving now leaving them only 4 points off the drop zone. Bookmakers are once again increasing the odds on the illustrious Merseyside team playing Championship football next season and current betting has them at 16 on failing to stay up.
