Redknapp for England Manager

Harry Redknapp’s name has been on the ‘contender’ list for the role of England Manager on and off for a few months but now he has received the backing of fellow football manager Owen Coyle.

With Fabio Capello confirming that he intends to step down as England Coach after Euro 2012 Redknapp is one of the favourites to take control of the team. In the past Redknapp has said that it would be difficult to turn the role down, if he were offered it, and Coyle has said that he believes that Redknapp is a ‘perfect fit’ for the role.

Speaking to Sky; Coyle said “If and when Mr Capello decides after his contract expires he doesn’t want to do the job anymore. Harry Redknapp would be the perfect candidate to be the next England Manager.

“I think the whole country would be pleased about that. He is an outstanding manager and a terrific man, who has been very helpful to me. He has always given his time generously.”

Praising Redknapp further the Bolton Wanderers manager went on to say: “Harry Redknapp and England sounds right to me. For me he is an elite manager.

“The great thing about him is he has worked his socks off to earn that right. He has been working at the coalface. Not only that his eye for a player is terrific.”

Currently both Paddy Power and Sky Bet are offering odds of 7/4 on Redknapp taking on the role.
