Saturday will see the usual bookmakers’ favourite and much fancied Six Nations championship decider between England and France. It has been a long time since England entered into the fixture in such a confident mood. Two strong starts by England against Wales and Italy have seen them being given the ‘favourites’ tag.

England’s heavy pack has now been equipped with a decisive and deadly set of running backs, who have already proven their skill at opening up defences and scoring tries, with rugby league convert Chris Ashton scoring six tries in two tests.

Mark Cueto, joining Ashton and Ben Foden in the dynamic line up, said that they were taking nothing for granted against France, having only beaten them once in the last four Six Nations encounters.

France too have shown that they are a force with the ball in hand and, despite some stuttering along the way, look like they will provide stern opposition for England, provided as always the right French side show up. Bookmakers are giving England a 1/2 chance of taking the fixture and France odds of 21/10 of victory.

Other matches over the weekend see Wales posted as favourites on their trip to Rome, getting a 2/9 nod against odds of 26/5 that Italy will cause an upset. The Celtic cousins also square up on Sunday, while Ireland are once again the bookmakers’ favourite to take this fixture at 1/2, with Scotland being given a 28/13 of making home advantage count.
