Three Way Race for F1 Title

Sundays result in Brazil means that all bets are still on for the F1 title race; the 2010 competition will go down to the wire in Abu Dhabi next weekend. Sebastian Vettel ensured an exciting closing to the 2010 season by taking all the points on offer in Brazil and with Mark Webber in second place, closing the points difference between himself and Fernando Alonso to only eight.

Should Alonso finish second in Abu Dhabi he will be crowned the three times F1 champion and so become the youngest ever triple champ. Webber needs a victory to take the championship; and even Vettel is in with a chance should the final podium go his way. The British pair, Louis Hamilton and Jenson Button look pretty much out of the running now but Hamilton could win if a miracle prevailed, a big one though, fishes into loaves, walking on water type of miracle.

Vettel ensured that the race went into the final meeting with a well-taken victory at the Interlagos track. This leaves the 23-year-old only 15 points behind Alonso and in with a chance, depending on the results on the day.

A repeat of the Brazil result with Vettel, Webber in the same positions could see Alonso still take the championship with a fourth place finish, while a Webber, Vettel placing will hand the Australian the title.

Bookmakers must surely fancy the Red Bull team to take the first two places as their cars have proven to be the fastest and most reliable this season, hence they have already taken the constructors race. However, it will still be a difficult one to call.
