United Villa Tuesday Action

Pick of the Premiership this mid-week sees Manchester United welcoming Aston Villa to Old Trafford. After their 2-1 win over Southampton at the weekend in the FA Cup and coming back from 2-0 down against Blackpool to finish 3-2 at the final whistle United are likely to field a full strength side for this meeting. 

The line up should see the return on Edwin van de Saar, Rio Ferdinand, Patrice Evra and Rafael de Silva who all missed the Southampton game. Da Silva is probably the only one who is doubtful after suffering concussion in the Blackpool game, in which case Wes Brown is the most likely start. 

The return of Park Ji-Sung from duties in the Asian Cup with South Korea may posses selection problems with the perennial Welshman Ryan Giggs partnered with Nani on the wings has proved successful of late. There is also a difficult decision coming up shortly. The Mexican, Javier Hernanadez has been on good form, but Ferguson will be holding out for Wayne Rooney. Rooney’s abilities when playing alongside Dimitar Berbatov have brought excellent results in the past. 

On United’s current form Aston Villa should be no problem, the Old Trafford outfit are still yet to lose a match and head the table, while Villa are struggling along just above the drop zone in 13th position.
