As the international rugby test rapidly approaches Warren Gatland is hinting that his side are the ones to gamble on this autumn. Gatland has said that this series of tests will be the “tipping point” that show their credentials for the next Rugby World Cup in New Zealand.

Wales will host matches at the Millennium Stadium against Australia, South Africa, Fiji and New Zealand during November and are hoping to improve on their poor previous showings against the big three teams. Gatland believes that with the competition only a year away Wales have to beat at least one of the favoured teams to show any form of serious intent.

Their opening match will be in Wellington against South Africa on 11th of September so they will have to start showing some quality play over November and during the six nations next year to be in contention. Gatland said on the WRU website that Wales were “on the cusp of having a very special team. We need a big win.”

Wales will face both South Africa and Fiji in their group stages and Australia and New Zealand are always going to be a force to be reckoned with in the World Cup so a win against any of the four in Cardiff is vital.

New Zealand is currently the bookmaker’s favourite gamble for the 2011 world cup. The ability the showed during this years Tri-nations Cup and home advantage you will get good odds on them lifting the cup for the second time since taking the inaugural event back in 1987.
